‘It’s Diwali time and you are now sitting with your calculator. Is not enough that you ruin your weekends on this and now this festive season as well’ Manisha had a little frustration in her sound. ‘Arrey, why are you getting irritated? I am just trying to figure out my Employee Provident Fund (EPF) balance’ Amit tried to be calm. ‘You and your calculations, nothing good comes out of them anyway’ Manisha commented while preparing sweets for the festive season.

‘Happy Diwali! Manisha and Amit’ greeted Raj who just entered their house. ‘Happy Diwali, Raj’ Manisha and Amit greeted him together. ‘Raj please put some brain in Amit, he is sitting with his calculator on such an auspicious occasion’ Manisha showed some concern. ‘What’s the matter, Amit?’ asked Raj. ‘Nothing serious, just that I switched my job three months ago and I am just calculating my EPF’ Amit replied.‘Oh, that’s not difficult at all now. Do you have your Universal Account Number (UAN)? asked Raj.

‘Yes, I just received it from my employer a month back. But since, I didn’t understand it’s use fully I kept it aside and didn’t pay much attention to it’ replied Amit.

‘That’s alright. Many time, we let important things pass away. You will need to activate your EPF UAN number first. Just bring out your laptop and put in the link to Activate your UAN (link embedded). You will need to keep your mobile also handy as they will send an authorisation PIN for the same. Once you’ve done that you will be able to generate your Login ID and Password to complete the process.’ Raj was cautiously guiding Amit.

Amit seemed very pleased with the interface. Didn’t expect a government organisation to have such a clean and quick interface

‘Once you sign in, you will be able to create your UAN Card for future use. On the right side, there will be your personal details too.’ Raj was showing Amit.

Raj pointed at Amit’s screen and said, ‘see below UAN Card in the ‘Alert section’ there you can download your passbook going to www.epfindia.gov.in page or alternatively you can go to https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp page’

Amit looked thrilled at this possibility now. After clicking the second link, Amit put in his UAN Number and Password.

After logging in, Amit could finally see his EPF balance. There was huge sigh of relief. Manisha was thrilled too looking at such a possibility.

‘Now no mo re calculator for today! Enjoy your diwali with friends and family. Now. I’m feeling hungry too, bring some sweets and coffee. It’s time to celebrate!’ said Raj and everyone erupted in laughter as their problem was solved.
